After Abram arrives in Canaan, a severe famine strikes the land and he goes down to Egypt, as the Nile river helped sustain Egypt during famines. But, God did not tell Abram to leave the Promised land, and instead of God working a miracle to preserve Abram, he finds himself in a place of lying and manipulating about Sarai to preserve his own life. Abram will learn it's better to be in the famine and in the center of God's will, than in Egypt and in compromise.
